What is R2A?
R2A, or Reasoner’s 2 Agar, is a plated sample method that uses an agar plate. A sample is plated, put on a spinner, and left to incubate for 7 days, providing a specific CFU count per sample.. Although R2A has traditionally been the go-to for mail-in testing, dentistry is progressing and offers more advanced, quicker mail-in testing options, like Flow Cytometry. R2A is:
• A standard waterline test
• More precise than Simplate and in-office testing methods
• Used for accrediting waterline test results
Do repeat tests needs to fill out the full submission form?
Yes! Each mail-in testing form must be completely filled out, regardless of if you’ve tested with ProEdge before. This ensures that your office information is current in our system and verifies that each vial is correctly labeled with the corresponding operatory, guaranteeing the accuracy of your results.
Why are my vials already numbered?
Mail-in test kits come with pre-numbered vials correlated to the spaces on the submission form, and not with your operatory. On the submission form, make sure to use the space next to the correlating vial number to indicate the operatory you took the samples from.
Should I test my source water?
Usually, it’s only recommended to test your source water if you have experienced repeat failures that you cannot seem to successfully remediate. Otherwise, it may be nice to know the state of your source water through testing, but it’s not necessary, especially if you’re passing tests regularly.
How do I access my test results?
You will receive an email when your test results are ready to view! Your mail-in test results will always be available on your ProEdge Clear™ account. Simply login and click on Past Test Cycles under Practice Reports.
